- Wim Klooster (Mar 27-28): The Colonies Seminar presents Wim Klooster, Associate Professor of History, Clark University. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. He specializes in Europe’s expansion in the early modern Atlantic World, especially the Caribbean region. His books include Illicit Riches: Dutch Trade in the Caribbean, 1648-1795 (Leiden, 1998), and The Dutch in the Americas, 1600-1800 (Providence, RI, 1997). He is currently writing a comparative history of the Atlantic Revolutions, 1775-1825, under contract with NYU Press. On Monday, March 27 Professor Klooster will present a public lecture and on Tuesday, March 28 he will present a pre-circulated paper to the Colonies Seminar.
