What is the Iowa History Department Like?
The history grad students at Iowa have worked hard—and successfully—over the past several years to foster a non-competitive, collegial, and mutually supportive atmosphere among students. Department policies that provide long-term funding for all Plan-A master’s and doctoral students prevent high-stress competition for scarce funding placements. The environment in the department and relationship between most faculty and grad students are warm and supportive.
